Forward Together

By Will Shafroth

With every generation, the American people have come together to care for the natural landscapes, history, and heritage we share. For more than a century, philanthropists, foundations, corporations, and people from all walks of life have found common cause in supporting our common ground — America’s national parks.

The same spirit of possibility, partnership, and generosity inspires The Campaign for National Parks and our core belief that it takes all of us to ensure parks are forever and for everyone.

NPF’s campaign builds on our close partnership with the National Park Service and a long tradition of people’s generosity that helped create America’s first national parks. Harnessing and expanding this powerful movement requires collective action of organizations, businesses, foundations, and individuals — and that’s where The Campaign for National Parks comes in — bringing more people together to directly support our parks and ensure that everyone can experience parks now and in the future.

Will Shafroth, president and CEO, National Park Foundation

The National Park Foundation is raising more money and delivering more impact across the National Park System than ever before, because caring for America’s national parks has never been the job of the government alone. As annual park visitation continues to increase, federal funding for the National Park Service has remained flat. That’s why the Foundation’s work is so vital to the success of our parks.

The National Park Foundation is also a catalyst for innovative solutions by bringing funding, expertise, and the right partners to the table. NPF has already raised more than $700 million toward our $1 billion campaign goal. Hundreds of park partner organizations from across the country will raise an additional $3.5 billion to support national parks, bringing the collective financial support for parks to $4.5 billion by 2028.

Together we will help protect park landscapes and wildlife across the 85 million acres of the National Park System from the Everglades to Denali, Acadia to Zion.

Together we will connect more kids to learning experiences in national parks — America’s largest classroom — and greatly expand Service Corps that provide young adults with paid opportunities to build trails, protect wildlife habitat, and restore historic structures.

Together we will preserve and share a fuller story of America, including the experiences of people whose lives have shaped our history, and whose stories have been underrepresented.

And together with all of our park partners, The Campaign for National Parks is accelerating the work that is so critical to national parks today. It is only with the generosity and the unwavering commitment of people across America that we can protect national parks for generations to come.

We’ve only just begun.
