National Park Foundation & REI Receive 2017 Halo Award
WASHINGTON – The National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, and the nation’s largest consumer co-op, REI, were awarded the 2017 Gold Halo Award in the Best Environmental Campaign Category.
In celebration of the National Park Service Centennial in 2016 and as a premier partner to the National Park Foundation for the Find Your Park/Encuentra Tu Parque movement, REI collaborated with the National Park Foundation to create a line of centennial co-branded products that help people to go deeper in the national parks and give back to parks with every purchase. These products, sporting graphics created by REI’s in-house design team, were featured in a special Centennial Essentials section of REI stores with a 10 percent give-back donation program to the National Park Foundation.
“With creative and fun designs, REI’s Centennial Essentials products inspired people to celebrate national parks as they prepared for and embarked on outdoor adventures,” said Stefanie Mathew, vice president of corporate partnerships at the National Park Foundation. “We are honored to receive this award with REI for gear that not only honored the National Park Service Centennial, but also gave back to help ensure that our national treasures will be accessible to all for years to come.”
The Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social initiatives and cause marketing, and are presented by Engage for Good (formerly Cause Marketing Forum). 2017 marks the 15th year that Engage for Good is honoring businesses and nonprofits with Halo Awards for doing well by doing good.
“The Halo Awards were created to acknowledge best in class corporate social impact programs. This year’s winners are a fantastic representation of the effective and innovative ways companies and causes can work together to create meaningful business and social returns,” said Engage for Good President David Hessekiel.
A total of 20 category awards were given out to programs judged the best cause marketing campaigns of 2016 at the 15th Annual Engage for Good conference in Chicago on June 1, 2017.
