National Park Foundation Celebrates Passage of National Park Week Resolution in United States Senate

WASHINGTON — Will Shafroth, president of the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner to the National Park Service, issued the following statement following adoption of S.Res.478, which designates April 21 – April 29, 2018, as National Park Week:

“The National Park Foundation commends the United States Senate for adopting a bipartisan resolution to recognize National Park Week. The Foundation applauds Senate Energy and Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on National Parks Chairman Steve Daines, Ranking Member Angus King, and Senator Mazie Hirono for their leadership in sponsoring S.Res.478, and thanks its bipartisan cosponsors for their support. In celebration of National Park Week, the resolution encourages all Americans and the people of the world to visit and experience our national parks from April 21 - April 29, 2018. As we celebrate the National Park Service’s continued stewardship of America’s majestic landscapes, hallowed battlefields, and iconic cultural and historical sites, the Foundation applauds Chairman Daines, Ranking Member King, and Senator Hirono for their efforts to spread awareness about National Park Week. The National Park Foundation invites all Americans to take advantage of programs and events taking place across the country during this special week, and to enjoy free entrance to all national parks on April 21.”
