National Park Foundation Applauds Introduction of the National Park Service Centennial Act in the House of Representatives
WASHINGTON – Today the National Park Foundation welcomed the introduction of the National Park Service Centennial Act by House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT-01). As the official, Congressionally-chartered nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation applauded the proposed legislation as it will help ensure a robust and sustained national park system for current and future generations of park visitors.

"As we celebrate the National Park Service's Centennial throughout 2016, we recognize the importance of diverse and holistic funding to carry out our mission to protect America’s treasured places, connect people from all backgrounds to them, and inspire the next generation of park stewards. We also appreciate Ranking Member Grijalva’s longtime leadership and work to support our national parks. We look forward to working with Chairman Bishop, Ranking Member Grijalva, and the entire Natural Resources Committee to advance this important legislation.”
The National Park Service Centennial Act includes important provisions that will enhance the Foundation's ability to leverage philanthropic support, including dedicated funding for the Centennial Challenge and the establishment of an endowment at the National Park Foundation. Additionally, provisions to strengthen the National Park Foundation’s Board of Directors and authorize annual appropriations to the Foundation will help the Foundation support the National Park Service
