Major renovation to Lincoln Memorial adds museum | NBC4 Washington
A massive remodeling project is underway beneath the Lincoln Memorial, the most visited monument in the nation's capital. The space beneath the statue is being transformed into a 15,000-square-foot museum, designed to showcase the memorial's historical significance and story over the past 114 years. The National Park Foundation first announced the $69 million project in 2016, aiming for completion by 2026 to coincide with the 250th anniversary of our nation's independence.
