As part of the National Park Foundation’s commitment to help parks become more sustainable and resilient, NPF recently awarded a grant to Upstream Solutions to work with two concessionaires at Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim to eliminate the more than 7 million single-use food ware items from the South Rim – much of which are plastic – and create a reuse ecosystem for dine-in and takeout food services.
NPF’s Director of Resilience and Sustainability Programs Ashley McEvoy joined NPR’s Here and Now host Deepa Fernandes to discuss the innovative project and the larger role NPF plays in supporting solutions to improve the sustainability and resilience of beloved park sites across the country.
