Overview

Together with the National Park Foundation (NPF), The Coca-Cola Company supports waste reduction, recycling efforts and the restoration of wetlands throughout the national park system. During the course of the partnership, Coca-Cola has funded the repair and expansion of hundreds of miles of hiking trails and the enhancement of park facilities, helping to provide a positive visitor experience for current and future generations.

As a premier partner of NPF’s work in Resilience & Sustainability, Coca-Cola is working to reduce plastic waste in parks through source reduction and circularity initiatives, helping protect our park’s natural resources.

The Backstory

In addition to their partnership with the National Park Foundation, The Coca-Cola Company has shown a love of national parks for nearly 100 years. From early advertising featuring the scenic treasures of our national parks, including a 1930’s Coca-Cola ad complete with soda pop drinking bears in Yellowstone, and a 1960s sweepstakes encouraging people to ‘See America,’ Coca-Cola and the national parks have been inextricably linked as two great icons of the American landscape.

Coca-Cola’s commitment to parks continues today as the longest standing corporate partner of the National Park Foundation.

The Coca-Cola Company is proud of our long-standing partnership with the National Park Foundation. Together, we work to help ensure that the cherished public lands across the country remain accessible and enjoyable for all Americans for generations to come. Our commitment is unwavering in safeguarding and celebrating the remarkable impact of America's Best Idea, our National Parks.

Partnership Impact

The Coca-Cola Company’s support has helped advance Resilience and Sustainability initiatives in parks, including expansion of circular economy efforts through recycling and waste management. Projects like the expansion of recycling efforts and infrastructure at Glacier National Park, and visitation studies to enhance recycling at The National Mall and Memorial Parks, along with other park projects funded by The Coca-Cola Company, help to keep parks green. In 2024, NPF awarded the first set of Source Reduction and Circular Economy grants to reduce plastic waste in parks. Funded by The Coca-Cola Company, the awarded grants will support park efforts to improve the lifecycle management of products, with an emphasis on sourced reduction of plastics used in and around national parks and their gateway cities.

Coca-Cola is also focused on the restoration of wetlands in parks across the country, which serve as essential habitat and vegetation for wildlife. Coca-Cola recently supported the restoration of Ackerson Meadow, a 230-acre ecologically important mid-elevation wet meadow in Yosemite National Park. This large-scale wetland restoration initiative marks a crucial step in preserving and enhancing a critical wildlife corridor, restoring a functional headwater meadow system, and providing carbon sequestration and climate resiliency benefits.
