As Chief Financial Officer at the National Park Foundation, Charlie leads the organization's finance, technology, and accounting departments to achieve the Foundation’s mission and increase its impact.
In this role, he designs and implements financial strategies, manages budgeting and forecasting strategies, advances timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis, ensures strong internal controls, and leads transparency over Foundation operations.
Charlie brings more than 35 years of experience managing the financial success of both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining NPF, Charlie served as Vice President and CFO of the University of Vermont (UVM) Foundation, where he utilized strategic and tactical financial planning expertise to maintain financial success of the organization. This included collaboration with staff and the board on significant efforts to advance organizational impact, including being a member of the University of Vermont’s $581 million Move Mountains Campaign, building a high-performance finance team that increased financial and operational insight, and upgrading the business technology platforms including a new endowment management system, new HRIS and payroll system, and financial systems.
He has also held leadership positions at the Society for Science and the Public, McArdle Solutions, Capital Gazette Communications, and USA Today.
Charlie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and multiple networking groups focused on financial management of non-profit organizations.
Charlie holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech and is a licensed CPA. He resides in Bethesda, Maryland. His favorite park is Acadia National Park.
