My trip with my Dad
Visited Antietam National Battlefield and Cemetery on October 17, 2008
Well this year for my birthday I told my Dad that I wanted to go to Washington, DC for a weekend. So we set it up for a four day trip to go to Washington and have a nice weekend in the nation's capital. We were driving there from Dayton, Ohio so it was only going to take one day. On the way to DC we decided to stop at a couple of places. One of the stops was at Antietam National Battlefield. I have been their one time before and I always remembered the lecture that the Ranger gave. It was one of the best and most informative lectures I have heard at a park.
This time I told Dad that I would like to walk the road that the call the bloodiest of all the battles of the War Between the States. Even after all these years it still made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. My Dad and I just talked and looked at the memorials to all the states that participated in the battle. Then we proceeded to our motel and spent one of the best weekends together in the nation's capital.
